Newborn Setup Kit
This kit has all the diapers and covers you need for birth to 10 pounds for full-time cotton diapering, plus one dozen of the next size up (yellow edge). Having a dozen of the next size on hand is wise because then you know when you need them since you have them on hand and can try them on, plus they are great burp cloths for newborns until they fit. The kit has a sampling of covers so that you can try several things to figure out what you like. Then when you are ready for more size small diapers and covers, you'll have a good idea of which style you like best. Plus you'll already have 2 covers that fit with the size small yellow edge diapers (the Thirsties Duo size one and the Bummis Super Brite size small), because sometimes babies literally grow overnight. A variety of covers in newborn is nice also because you don't know how big baby will be until baby is born. This way you are sure to have a great fit from at least some of the covers - no matter what size baby turns out to be or when baby makes his or her arrival. If baby is early or late, on time, tiny, average or huge, you'll be ready. The Mommy's Touch Adjustable newborn cover adjusts all the way down to a true preemie size. This kit has enough covers to do it comfortably, but it's not over-abundant. Economy Kit
On a tight budget, and apartment dweller, a homesteader, or heading overseas to share the Gospel? This is the kit for you. This kit can take you from birth to potty learning. 48 birdseye flat diapers, 5 adjustable covers for a young baby, 5 adjustable covers for an older baby, 4 pins (optional but great to have and I recommend them) and 24 wipes. You can put the small flats on an older baby because they really are not small. At one time we had the kit as 2 dozen small and 2 dozen large but changed it to 4 dozen small because customers told us that it's easier to have all the same size. You'll double diaper on your toddler and for nighttime. That means use 2 flats in one cover to get extra absorbency as needed. The small birdseye definitely do fit on toddlers too. These are the easiest diapers to wash and dry, thus suitable for any washing situation, even handwashing and hanging to dry. No hot water? You can iron these for disinfection if needed or they can be boiled occasionally. I think flats are fun to use. Fold them and use them just like prefolds and you can lay them in a cover unfastened, or do fancier folds and pin them as you wish. Flats are so wonderfully versatile.
